You’ve stumbled upon Arctic Musings– a blog about life in Alaska. You can read all the blog posts or pick a category you like and read through just the things you’re interested in. I’ve categorized posts according to the following:
Alright, Cabin-to-be is probably a more accurate categorization, but Cabin looks nicer. I bought some property in a remote area of Alaska… the property is accessible by Alaska’s sparse road system, but that’s about it. There’s no electricity, internet, 3G cellular reception, or plumbing. This category is used to document the long, slow road to building a cabin on the property, and all the planning, work, and playing that goes into that effort.
Books & Reviews
Under the heading of Books & Reviews, I tell you what I think about books I want to read or have read. I tell you about how I feel about books, blogs, articles, and essays I’ve written. Your feedback is welcome.
I like to buy, read, and review books by little-known authors. I don’t get to read too often, and I like to split my time pretty evenly between best-sellers and things that no one has ever reviewed. You can find all of my current reviews by clicking the Reviews link at the top of the page.
I developed the following rating system:
1 Star: Don’t waste your time.
2 Stars: Great idea, poorly executed or maybe a wonderfully executed bad idea
3 Stars: Read this once and pass it on
4 Stars: Read this because it will stick with you even after you’re done reading it
5 Stars: Buy the author-signed hard copy because you’re going to love this!
Note to authors: If you would like me to buy, read, and review one of your books, please leave a comment or link below. I make no promises, but I’ll check it out.
I’d love to be a writer one day, and a large purpose of this blog is to have a place to post things I’ve written or want to write. Eventually, I’ll get some ebooks published. I might even post a doodle here and there.
I enjoy sewing, though I’m a complete novice. I’ve got some neat projects though, and I will share them with those who are interested by using the sewing category.
Believe it or not, I have actually finished some of the things I’ve started writing. The vast majority of the things I have set out to write have never been completed– not even in my head. This category is for things that have a beginning, a middle, and an end. I’ll bet half the things you believe are made up, and most of the things you can’t believe are entirely true without the slightest exaggeration!
