Visiting the property for the first time!

I bought the property in April 2013. It was late May before I got out there for the first time. I had high hopes on the drive out to the property. It was nice weather– sunny and warm. I took this panoramic just outside of Palmer, Alaska. Just look at that gorgeous view!

This was the beautiful day that I first visited the property after I purchased it.

You can imagine my disappointment, then, when I got out of the truck and had to climb the snow berm to the driveway. I sunk down into the snow up to my hips. There was just so much snow!

From the driveway, there is a view of some mountains. I honestly do not know if the mountains are named, and if they are, what the name of the mountains might be. Here’s a photo of that first trip. I broke the trail up the hill, and the dogs helped get it packed down enough that we could walk up and down without sinking into the snow.

This is the view from the top of the driveway.

I promise, Alaska does turn green at some point during the summer– that winter was just a record-breaker. I played at the property several times over the summer– setting up a tent, clearing some trees for fire wood, and inviting family and friends up for adventures. For his birthday, my boyfriend received a fancy chain saw from his dad. I fear for my trees now!

My heavily forested property is about to get a little less forested!
